Special Issue "Plant Reproduction and Domestication" in 2022
  • Plant domestication plays a fundamental role in human history. The majority of the crops, vegetables, and fruits of today were domesticated from their wild progenitors within the past 12000 years. During domestication, important agronomic traits were selected and fixed; at the same time, the genetic diversity of domesticated cultivars was greatly reduced compared with their wild relatives. Research on plant domestication will help us to strengthen global food security we are facing now. Meanwhile, the better understanding of the molecular mechanism of plant reproduction is of great importance for modern breeding.

Prof. Li-Yu Chen would like to call for research and review articles for an aBIOTECH special issue on “Plant Reproduction and Domestication”. Many of the papers in this issue will be invited by issue editor; however, unsolicited papers related to the topic are also welcome.

I would like to invite you to contribute a research article or review article for the special issue, relating to plant reproduction, plant domestication, and crop improvement and associated technologies developed.
